What is processor?
A processor is a logic circuitry that responds to and processes the basic instructions that drive a computer. The four primary functions of a processor are fetch, decode, execute and writeback.

What is CPU External Frequency?
Different computer components run at different frequencies. For this reason they require a base frequency to synchronize their operations. The motherboard provides this in the form of an external clock.
- CPU use this clock to determine their own operational speeds.
- Manufacturers sometimes refer to this as the external frequency to differentiate it from the CPU speed, otherwise known as its internal frequency.
What does GHz mean in a computer processor?
The most frequently touted measures of processor performance is a given chip's speed in gigahertz.
- Processors with higher GHz ratings can, theoretically, do more in a given unit of time than processors with lower GHz ratings.
- The Processor's speed rating is just one of many factors that impact how fast it actually processes data.
- Some specialized applications can be very computationally demanding, choosing the fastest computer is more important than buying a machine with the highest clock speed.
What processor speed means?
When you see a processor's speed in GHz, it refers to the speed of the processor's internal clock. Every time that the clock ticks, the processor can execute an instruction or read and write data. A 3.0 GHz Processor has 4 billion opportunities per second to do something, while a 3.6 GHz processor has 3.6 billion chances of making it roughly 20 percent faster.
