WAVELENGTH

Definition:

The distance between successive crests or successive troughs of a wave is known to be wavelength.

Calculation:

Wave size is measured in wavelengths. The wavelength is calculated by determining the distance between corresponding points on consecutive waves. Normally this is done by measuring from peak to peak or from trough to trough.

The wavelength calculation formula could be written as,
                        λ=V/f
where λ  represents wavelength
           V represents velocity or speed of the wave.
           f   represents frequency of the wave.
