Multi OS Differences

MS DOS 7.1:



  • It is completely Character User Interface Operating System.
  • We cannot connect to internet directly.
  • Anything we want to operate, we need to go to DOS Shell and type a command to run.
  • It Supports Only FAT32 File System and the partition need to be Primary.

Windows XP:


  • In this, It is a combination of both character user interface and graphical user interface.
  • We can connect to internet through internet explorer browser - Inbuilt feature.
  • We can play video or audio files through Windows media player - Inbuilt feature.
  • Firewall protection - Inbuilt feature.
  • MSN Messenger - Inbuilt feature.
  • This Supports Mainly FAT32/16 File System and NTFS File System.
  • It behaves as User Friendly Nature.
  • It has Windows Boot Manager but with less features - Only for 2 Operating systems it supports.

Windows 10:



  • It is both character and graphical user interface operating system.
  • It has many features inbuilt like audio drivers, graphic drivers, LAN drivers, DVD/CD Burning application.
  • It has Microsoft Edge as default web browser.
  • It supports all FAT32/16, NTFS, HPFS File Systems.
  • If we install 2 or more Operating systems in one hard drive then the default Windows 10 Boot Manager is available.

Redhat Linux:

  • 95% of Linux Operating system is written in C Language.
  • It supports FAT32/16, NTFS, ext2, ext3, ext4 File Systems.
  • It can be character user interface and graphical user interface.
  • Most of the commands that run under Terminal in linux.
  • We can write linux shell commands in terminal and run.
  • It has seperate boot manager called GNU GRUB.
